What does Mallings Pink Grapefruit Gin taste like?
This gin is a vibrant, aromatic ode to citrus fruits, promising an “explosion of flavors” when served with tonic water and plenty of ice.
Nose: The aroma bursts forth immediately with the vibrant, intensely fragrant zest of pink grapefruit, highlighting its signature sweet-tart character. This dominant note is beautifully complemented by the underlying freshness of wild juniper berries, which provide a classic gin base. More subtle hints of orange zest add a sunny sweetness, while a hint of lime zest brings an extra layer of bright, invigorating citrus. As the aroma deepens, a light, herbaceous whisper of basil emerges, promising a unique aromatic touch.
Palate: The first impression is a captivating symphony of citrus. Pink grapefruit takes center stage, delivering a bold and juicy flavor that is both refreshing and complex, without any harsh bitterness. It is quickly followed by the lively acidity of lime and the velvety sweetness of orange, creating a multi-layered citrus experience. The presence of hand-picked wild juniper berries offers a clean, resinous counterpoint, anchoring this vibrant bouquet. What truly elevates this gin is the delicate yet distinct note of basil that runs through the mid-palate, bringing a fresh, green, and slightly peppery nuance that harmoniously complements the grapefruit. Coriander adds a subtle warm, sweet, and spicy touch that supports the entire profile.
Finish: The finish is clean, crisp, and wonderfully invigorating, leaving a lasting impression of fresh pink grapefruit and a pleasant, subtle acidity. A hint of basil lingers delicately, adding an unexpected yet delightful aromatic depth. Wild juniper provides a classic, dry finish, inviting you to take another sip of this refreshing and complex gin.
Overall impression:
Mallings Pink Grapefruit Gin is a vibrant and lively spirit, crafted to deliver a pure sensation of freshness. Its masterful blend of vibrant pink grapefruit, enhanced by lime, orange, and an intriguing hint of basil, creates a unique and exhilarating flavor profile. It truly comes to life when mixed with plenty of ice and tonic, transforming into an explosion of flavor that is both sophisticated and delicious. How to Serve a Pink Grapefruit Mallings
Ingredients:
Double shot (50 ml) of Mallings Pink Grapefruit Gin
Tonic
Plenty of ice (large ice cubes are best)
Large gin glass (60-ml Copa/Balloon glass recommended)
Instructions:
Fill a large gin glass generously with ice, right to the brim. Don’t hold back—the more ice, the better the chill and the easier it is to control how much the drink dilutes.
Pour 50 ml (a double shot) of Mallings Pink Grapefruit Gin over ice.
Slowly top it off with tonic water.
Garnish if you like (Mallings Pink Grapefruit pairs perfectly with a zest or slice of grapefruit), but it’s just as good on its own.
Serve immediately. Savor it slowly and relax.
