How to serve a Piste Noire Pom Pom
Taste profile: precision and sophistication
Served neat, over a single large ice cube, “Pom Pom” reveals its full, nuanced complexity. The initial burst of aroma is dominated by notes of crisp green apple, a hallmark of carefully selected fruit. This is followed by a robust palate that highlights the spirit’s inherent structure. The mint, integrated with precision, provides a delicate and revitalizing counterpoint, far from an overpowering menthol presence. This harmony between fruit and herb offers a sophisticated and purifying experience, ideal for a post-meal tasting.
Appetizer: Freshness at its Best
When served as an aperitif, “Pom Pom” truly showcases its versatility. Served generously over ice and mixed with a quality tonic, it transforms into a vibrant summer drink. Its aromatic profile immediately captures the attention, with notes of apple and mint enhanced by the tonic’s effervescence. On the palate, the sweetness of the apple balances the bitterness of the quinine, while the mint provides a refreshing and cool sensation. This preparation highlights the vodka’s ability to retain its distinct character even when diluted, making “Pom Pom” an appealing choice for sunny days.
Meet the creators
The Southern Distillery
Our spirits are born in the heart of Ariège, at La Distillerie du Sud—a small-batch artisanal distillery located on a historic estate near Carla-de-Roquefort. In 2018, a former cowshed on this old apple orchard was carefully transformed into a vibrant hub for award-winning artisanal spirits, thanks to the passion and vision of its founder, Stephen Malling. Since then, Stephen and his team have been distilling with precision, perseverance, and heart—earning international recognition while remaining rooted in their local community. Every bottle reflects the craftsmanship and spirit of the Ariège.
